Regenerative Injection Post-Care
Home » Regenerative Post-Care
What to Expect
- Mild to Moderate Swelling, Redness, or Warmth: Common at injection sites and in the treated area for 3-7 days. This is often a sign of the desired inflammatory/healing response.
- Tenderness or Soreness: Expected in the treated area, can last for several days.
- Bruising: Possible at injection sites, lasting 5-10 days.
- Feeling of Fullness or Pressure: May occur in the treated area.
- Itching: Mild itching can occur as the area heals.
- Gradual Results: These treatments work by stimulating your body’s natural repair and regeneration processes. Visible results are typically not immediate and may develop over weeks to months. Multiple sessions may be recommended.
Post-Care Instructions
- Hands-Off & Gentle Care:
- Avoid touching, pressing, or rubbing the treated areas for at least 8 hours post-treatment to prevent irritation or infection.
- Keep the area clean. You can typically wash gently with a mild cleanser and water after 6-8 hours, or as advised.
- Positioning:
- Sleep slightly elevated for the first night if significant swelling occurs.
- If treated for scalp/hair restoration, sleep on your back with a clean pillowcase.
- Cold & Heat:
- Cold Compresses: Gentle application of cold compresses (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) can be used for the first 24 hours if needed for comfort and to manage initial swelling. However, some inflammation is part of the healing process, so avoid aggressive or prolonged icing unless specifically advised.
- Avoid Heat: Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, or direct heat to the treated area for 48-72 hours.
- Exercise & Meds:
- Rest & Light Activity: Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, or activities that significantly strain the treated area for 2-3 days (or as advised by your provider, as this can vary based on the treatment area and intensity). Gentle movement is usually encouraged.
- Medications to AVOID (Crucial for PRF/Biologics):
- AVOID NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, Aleve, naproxen) and other anti-inflammatory medications for at least 1-2 weeks before and after treatment, unless medically necessary and cleared by your primary physician AND your SOKO provider. These medications can interfere with the desired inflammatory and healing pathways crucial for these treatments.
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is generally acceptable for pain relief if needed.
- Avoid alcohol for 48-72 hours.
- Sun & Skin:
- Protect from Sun: Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds to the treated area for at least 1-2 weeks, or until any redness and swelling have subsided. Sun exposure can cause inflammation and pigmentation changes.
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to the area once healed.
- Extras:
- Hydration: Drink plenty of water to support the healing process.
- Skincare: Avoid harsh skincare products, exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs, retinoids) on the treated area for 3-7 days, or as advised. Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers.
- No Makeup: Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 12-24 hours, or until injection sites are closed.
- Scalp PRF: If treated for hair restoration, you can typically resume gentle shampooing the next day or as instructed.
Healing & Support
- Eat More Of:
- Whole, Nutrient-Rich Foods: Focus on a diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to support your body’s healing capacity (lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats).
- Stay Well-Hydrated: Essential for cellular function and repair.
- Avoid for at least 1 week (or as advised):
- Anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin.
- Alcohol (can impair healing and hydration).
- Smoking (significantly impairs healing and cellular function).
- Excessive caffeine, sugary, or processed foods (can increase inflammation for some)
