Post-Care: RF Microneedling(M8)

BODY: Abdomen, Thighs, Arms, Flanks, and Knees, ETC.

Post‑Care

Day 0 (First 24 Hours)

  • What is Normal: Body skin responds robustly to deep tissue remodeling. Expect intense redness, swelling, a deep sensation of heat, and pinpoint bleeding. Faint, flesh-colored or slightly red grid-like stamping marks are completely normal.

  • Ointment Protection: Keep the treated body area clean. Do not apply regular body lotions, active skincare, or perfumes today. Immediately following your session, your provider will coat the area in a protective layer of Aquaphor or a soothing ointment. You should continue to apply a clean layer of Aquaphor frequently over the next few days to keep the tissue highly moisturized and prevent the intense itching that can occur from deep skin dryness.

  • Sun Protection: Maintain strict sun avoidance. Because you cannot wear sunscreen on the open channels today, keep the treated areas fully covered with loose clothing or stay indoors.

⚠️ Critical Hygiene Rules (First 48 Hours)

To protect your body micro-channels from bacteria while they seal, you must strictly follow these rules:

  • Sanitize Touchpoints: Wipe down any items that will directly press against or contact your treated skin—including fitness trackers, smartwatches, waistbands, or lounge chair surfaces—with rubbing alcohol.

  • Pet Boundaries: Do not allow household pets to sit on your lap, jump against, lick, or sleep on or near the treated body areas.

  • Friction & Clothing Avoidance: Continue to wear only loose, soft clothing. Avoid tight jeans, compressive athletic wear, shapewear, underwire, or elastic bands over the treatment site for the first 48 to 72 hours to avoid irritating the deep tissue.

  • Heat, Sweat & Workouts: Avoid excessive heat, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or heavy workouts that induce intense sweating for 72 hours. Heavy friction and sweat can trigger heat rashes or folliculitis in the treated area.

  • Linen Hygiene: Change your bed sheets or sleep on a fresh, clean towel the first night. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before touching or applying ointment to the treated body zone.

Day 1 to Day 2 (24–48 Hours)

  • Gentle Cleansing: You may begin gently washing the body area using your hands, a bland, non-active cleanser, and lukewarm water. Do not scrub with loofahs or washcloths. Gently pat dry with a fresh, clean towel.

  • Moisturizing: Reapply your clinic-approved ointment or Aquaphor. Keep the skin heavily lubricated to prevent dryness and itching.

  • Sunscreen Note: Continue to keep the area physically covered by clothing. Do not apply body sunscreen until a full 48 hours have passed to ensure the micro-channels are fully closed.

Day 3 and Beyond (Post-48 Hours)

  • Sunscreen: You can now safely apply a mineral, broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to the body zone if it will be exposed to daylight.

  • Actives Restriction: Keep all retinol body lotions, alpha-hydroxy body acids (AHA/BHA), self-tanners, and body scrubs off the area for at least 7 to 10 days. Re-introduce them gradually only when the skin is completely settled and smooth. Avoid any aggressive body exfoliation treatments until the skin is entirely healed.

  • [ ] Mandatory Anti-Inflammatory (NSAID) Restriction: Because Morpheus8 Body relies on a controlled inflammatory response to contract fat and tighten tissue, you must NOT take over-the-counter anti-inflammatories (such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, or Motrin) after your treatment. Taking NSAIDs can directly blunt and ruin your body-contouring results. Use only Tylenol or your prescribed Journavx™ protocol for post-care comfort.

Body-Specific Healing Expectations

  • Prolonged Redness & Swelling: Body skin has slower cellular turnover than facial skin. Redness, swelling, and deep tissue tenderness on areas like the abdomen or thighs frequently last longer (2 to 5+ days).

  • Flesh-Colored Track Marks: Due to the deeper penetration depths required to target body tissue (up to 7mm), faint, flesh-colored or slightly texturized grid-like “stamping” or track marks can last up to 4 weeks on certain areas of the body. This is a completely normal part of the deep dermal remodeling process and will fade beautifully into smooth, tight skin. Keep the area hydrated with bland moisturizers to support this transition.

Spacing & Timelines

  • The Series: For body contouring, fat remodeling, and skin tightening, a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart is suggested for optimal skin goals. Results build progressively; major visible tightening typically appears after your 2nd treatment, with global structural results peaking at 9 months as the deep tissue matrix fully remodels.

  • Recent Body Surgeries: If you have had liposuction, a tummy tuck, or other invasive surgical contouring in the target body zone, you must wait a full 3 to 6 months and receive complete medical clearance before undergoing Morpheus8 Body.
